JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
A notable thing happened in our community this week. Metro Jackson's Habitat for Humanity has helped to restore a rundown neighborhood in west Jackson's Bullard Hills.
Garden Circle, where I once delivered papers as a youngster, over the years became a dump wrought with crime and poverty. But this week we saw how breathing new life with money and sweat equity can transform a deteriorated neighborhood into a beacon of hope and prosperity.
Altogether 27 new homes will be built, with the help of a number of business and civic organizations, along with hundreds of volunteers.
Englewood Gardens represents a shining example of what Jackson can accomplish if we all just believe that together we can make a difference for so many.
That's my Point of View.
