Bank robber linked to crimes in Texas and Arkansas

MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The search continued Saturday for the Madison bank robber who police now believe is linked to a string of holdups in Texas and Arkansas.

He was caught on camera Friday at the Bancorp South branch at Old Canton Road and Main Street.

The white male looks strikingly similar to the man called the "Loan Ranger Bandit" who was captured on surveillance video during a robbery at a College Station Texas credit union.

Madison Police Lt. Eddie Lawrence said Saturday that they have reviewed video footage that links the thief to robberies in Texas and Arkansas.

Friday morning he held up two tellers with a small semi automatic handgun then fled into a nearby wooded area with an undetermined amount of money.

Madison law officers also said they have spoken with a person of interest, but that individual has not been arrested.

WLBT's sister station in Tyler Texas alerted us to a number of similarities in the holdups.

Authorities said the man has robbed seven banks in Texas and Arkansas over the last few years.

He usually targets credit unions and has made no attempt to hide his identity.
