A dog owner finds his long lost companion

EDWARDS, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

An Edwards man has been reunited with his 10-year-old dog after they were apart for almost three years.

James Robinson just happened to find his missing bloodhound at the Community Animal Rescue and Adoption Shelter.

It was the sound 10-year-old bloodhound Waylon, short for Waylon Jennings, made that was instrumental in getting him reunited with his 72-year-old owner.  James Robinson lost the dog almost three years ago. He was so lonesome for the company of a bloodhound that he started going to the Community Animal Rescue and Adoption Animal Shelter in Jackson to visit a dog named Daisy Mae.

He filled out adoption papers for Daisy Mae when he happened to take a stroll through the C.A.R.A. shelter and spotted Waylon.  He wasn't sure it was Waylon at first.  But what he calls singing, something Waylon does, made him know he had found his beloved pet.

"Waylon started yodeling, as I call it, like a bloodhound call and I stopped and I said I believe I know that dog.  I would yodel at him and he would yodel back and it just worked out well," said Robinson.

One of the handlers at C.A.R.A., Hollie McClelland, also helped reunite Waylon with James Robinson.

"That makes it all worthwhile. That's why we do it," said McClelland.

72-year-old James Robinson and his 10-year-old dog Waylon are back together and very happy.
