Hinds County authorities say they arrested a convicted felon in possession of a gun while serving a search warrant on a north Jackson home Wednesday morning.
Officials say deputies also confiscated drugs at Alton Cooper's home near Chastain Middle school Wednesday.
The convicted felon is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of codeine and parole violation. Deputies confiscated four pounds of marijuana and more than $12,000.
"He is currently on parole for charges out of Hinds and Rankin counties," said Chief Deputy Chris Picou. "This was information the narcotics division received information on."
A large caliber handgun and two vehicles were also confiscated. Deputies say this case remains under investigation.
