JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A big crowd gathered in Jackson Saturday morning, with the purpose of getting smaller.

"The Biggest Loser RunWalk began and ended at the Art Garden at the Mississippi Museum of Art. People of all ages, and all stages of physical fitness, took part in the event.

We caught participants crossing the finish line after running or walking a 5K or 15K course. Two celebrities from the 5th season of The Biggest Loser were there.

Mother/son team Jackie and Dan Evans collectively lost 226 pounds on the show.

Jackie, who is 55 years old, says people of any age can begin running.

"People are always asking me, how are you keeping the weight off? It's right here, events like this. We tell everyone to get involved. It's a great social community of activity," she says.

Dan, a musician, played music near the finish line. He says people who wish to lose weight and keep it off, must step out of their comfort zone.

"I think the hardest thing is taking on the brand new lifestyle, saying you know what, all of these old habits, things I used to do, things I was comfortable doing, with my friends. I have to find new activities to do with my friends, or I need to find new friends," he says.

The Evanses tour the country with The Biggest Loser RunWalk.
