Dirty bacteria found on clean-looking pacifiers

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

New research shows dropped binkies can be covered in bacteria.

Even though they look clean, a small study finds contaminated pacifiers, examined under a microscope can be covered in both mold and staph bacteria.

No studies have proven that a dirty paci can lead to actual illness.

But most experts agree parents should replace them at least monthly -- even if they're cleaned and sterilized after every use.

This study was done at Oklahoma State University by Dr. Tom Glass and colleagues.
