HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Southern Miss football players Arsenio Favor and Desmond Johnson have been suspended from this weekend's game in Dallas on Saturday for a violation of team rules. Head coach Ellis Johnson gave no comment, and a Southern Miss press release stated he will give no further comment on the matter.

Johnson, a redshirt senior, has started all eight games this season, and leads the Golden Eagles in rushing with 460 yards and two touchdowns on 82 attempts. Favor has seen limited playing time, but did start one game this season on the road at Rice.

The redshirt sophomore is 14-of-27 on the season for 193 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. He's also contributed to the Southern Miss ground game with 24 carries for 86 yards and two touchdowns.

The Golden Eagles (0-9, 0-5) will take on Southern Methodist University (4-5, 3-2) at 6:00 pm.
