BRANDON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A large sum of money was taken from a Brandon restaurant when a group of people went inside pretending to make arrangements for a party.

Dragon Palace III , located in the 1500 block of West Government Street, was targeted Sunday.

Owner Amy Zheng said five people entered the Chinese restaurant around 4:30 p.m.

Two women asked for a room for a large gathering.

Meanwhile, two other women and a man stood in the doorway blocking the view to the office.

Zheng said while she and her daughter set up chairs and tables in another area, the man crawled into the office and took the bank deposit bag and money and jewelry that were inside her purse.

No weapons were displayed.

"They tell me they got a 24 people party. They got two people pulling me over there talking about the party and one young guy goes into my office, taking my money," said Zheng.

The thieves are described as possibly Hispanic, Filipino or Pacific Islanders.

A witness gave Brandon police a description of the get away vehicle.

An investigation is ongoing.
