JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Hinds County Sheriff's Department has made multiple busts in its newest operation -- a crime crackdown in an area of northwest Jackson.

Deputies have seized around 10 pounds of marijuana, 3 and a half ounces of cocaine and a number of other drugs.

Several guns and thousands in cash were also taken off the streets.

The crackdown was in a section of northwest Jackson between Medgar Evers Boulevard, Livingston Road and Northside Drive.

This is the first community where the sheriff's department plans to do a crime crackdown.

Deputies will be monitoring to make sure criminal activity doesn't pick back up before they move on to the next location.
