Thousands of families are helped during the holiday season by the Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army kicked off the annual Red Kettle campaign Tuesday evening. The goal for kettles this year is $750,000 dollars.
Captain Ken Chapman says the need for services has jumped by 38 percent, and this year table top kettles will be displayed at area businesses.
"Aside from the big kettles that will be in 62 locations this year, which is 50 percent more than last year, these are our table top kettles. The table top kettles will be in fast foods and boutiques and places where the big kettles can't fit. But this is a great way if you put your change, your change could be a big change in Jackson," Chapman said.
There are 100 table top kettles throughout the metro area.
