A man was killed and two others were injured in an accident just off Interstate 55 early Thursday morning.
Officials with Tougaloo College says all three people were students at the college.
The officials have confirmed that the front passenger, Joshua Robinson, a senior from Chicago Heights, Ill., was killed.
Xavier Hamilton of Ridgeland and Brennan Bell of Bay Saint Lewis are hospitalized at University of Mississippi Medical Center. Hamilton is in critical condition. Bell is recovering well, according to the college.
Both are seniors at Tougaloo.
Jackson police say the driver and a second passenger were sent to the hospital. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.
The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. Jackson police say the vehicle was traveling east on Pascagoula Street, attempting to get onto the on ramp to Interstate 55.
The driver hit the center pillar on the overpass.
A candlelight vigil is scheduled for 5:30 Thursday night in the Woodworth Chapel at Tougaloo College.
