LORMAN, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Thousands of football fans heading down U.S. Highway 61 ran into a gridlock Saturday.
Traffic was at a standstill along the two lane roadway to the Alcorn-Jackson State matchup.
Corporal Odis Easterling with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, reported no accidents, but said traffic was congested and backed up as expected.
With more than 20,000 people anticipated to enter Jack Spinks Stadium, The Highway Patrol assisted with traffic flow.
Some fans say the typical hour and a half drive turned into a three hour stop and go journey.
