Hundreds flock to Christmas on Ice

Posted: Updated:
MADISON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas especially in Madison where Christmas On Ice officially opened Saturday evening.

Hundreds of kids and adults hit the rink at Baptist Health Systems.

Holiday tunes played while they took a turn on the ice.

Some were getting to used to ice skates for the very first time.

But there were lots of smiles and fun

The ice rink will be opened Sunday through Thursday from noon until 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

"We did it last night and then we did it earlier today, and it's really fun," said 10 year old Kayla Young.

"I think it was a good thing that they made it. It's really fun, and I enjoy it," said 10 year old Elaysha Travis.

"It was fun. I've never been ice skating, and I wanted to ice skate," said 8 year old Bayleigh Hood who celebrated her birthday at the rink.

"We very much enjoy roller skating, roller blading and very seldom do we have ice in Mississippi to skate on, so this is a great treat," said M. J. Miller who brought his daughter Annie.

"The only fee involved is if you want to get on the ice. There's a $15.00 charge just to get skates or to go down the slide but everything else is free," said Christy Link with Christmas on Ice.

The ice skating rink will remain open through January 6th.
