Jackson teen shot in the buttocks

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson teen is recovering after being shot in the buttocks over the weekend.

Jackson police say it happened in the 700 block of Broadmoor Drive on Sunday afternoon.

The 16-year-old victim told investigators two black males approached him as he was walking through a field.

The men attempted to steal the teen's backpack then a fight ensued. Shortly after, a gun shot rang out.

No one has been arrested and the incident remains under investigation.

The teen's injury is non-life threatening.
