A store clerk told a FOX Carolina crew Monday night he could still hear the words of a robber ringing in his head.
"Give me the money, give me the money, give me the money,"the clerk said the robbery kept saying over and over again.
And although the clerk didn't want to show his face, he was still visibly shaken by what he said happened inside the store Saturday night.
"He ran through the door and put the gun in my face like that and said, 'Give it up,'" the clerk said.
The clerk works at the Wholesale Tire and ABC store in Union on South Pinckney Street and was there working when the robbery happened about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
But he said a robber wasn't looking for a mark-down on mini bottles or a discount on tires, he said the crook wanted cash. So, he opened the register.
"When I started giving him the money he told me to hit the ground. When I hit the ground I reached back over to give him the money, but I guess I was too slow for him because he came around, went in the cash register and got all the money," he said.
The clerk said the man had on dark clothes, covered his head with a hood and his face with a white towel.
"He had me scared to death. I begged him and begged him not to kill me," he said.
The clerk said the robber fired a warning shot near a liquor stand.
"I didn't think nobody would do it to me like that. I'm so good to everybody."
Police with the Union Public Safety Department said they are trying to track down leads, and although the clerk said he doesn't know who robbed him, he has a message for the thief.
"I would thank him for not killing me," the clerk said.
If you have any information about this case, call the Union Public Safety Department.
