Metro area stores gear up for Black Friday

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Stores across the metro area are gearing up for Black Friday.

Cowboy Maloney's Electric City is breaking new ground this year on Black Friday. They're opening at 5am instead of 7:30am, as they had done in previous years.

The chain of stores will also offer an item just for Black Friday shoppers: a "Proscan" Android Tablet for $49.99. 20 tablets will be available at each store, until supplies run out.

Cowboy Maloney's will also have doorbuster prices on three televisions.

Although some other retail shops plan to open on Thanksgiving night, Cowboy Maloney's will wait until Friday morning so employees can spend Thanksgiving with their families.

"With the trend, a lot of people opening on Thanksgiving day, at all hours of the night, 12am, 3am, we felt like we still wanted to give our employees the day off, which is really important to us. A lot of people who will be out shopping can check us out before they go home," says Cowboy Maloney's General Manager Joe Schneeberger.

JC Penney locations are also stocking their stores in preparation for the big day. JC Penney will open at 6am on Black Friday, and the store also plans to remain closed on Thanksgiving.
