No charges filed in JPS bus accident

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson Police have completed their investigation into a school bus accident involving a four-year- old little girl .

Nadya Slocum was hit by a school bus Friday on Redmond Avenue in Jackson, shortly after getting off the bus she was riding. The Walton Elementary pre-k student had to have her left foot amputated.

JPD spokesperson, officer Colendula Green, says their investigation determined that no criminal charges will be filed; that it was just an unfortunate accident.

Witnesses told WLBT the bus Slocum was riding did not have a stop sign displayed when she was crossing the street.
