2 suspects sought after wrecking stolen vehicle

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police say two individuals escaped from a stolen vehicle following a chase and wreck.

Jackson Police say the Toyota Tundra was stolen in Yazoo City Monday morning from a convenience store.

Police say the mother of the owner of the truck caught up with the vehicle on Highway 49 and followed it into Jackson.

"We just knew we didn't need to let it out of our sight so it was scary.  I kept thinking he's going to wreck or he's going to kill somebody," Donna Overby said.

The truck wrecked at the intersection of Medgar Evers Boulevard and Ridgeway Street after hitting another vehicle.

"We saw smoke up at the red light so we knew they had wrecked, and two jumped out and ran," Overby said.

Two men in the stolen truck, described as black males fled the scene on foot.

A female in the sedan they hit was taken to the hospital.  Both vehicles were totaled.
