
Voters in Attala County returned to the polls Tuesday to decide who will be the next sheriff.
With 21 of the 21 machine voting precincts reporting, Sheriff Tim Nail picked up 3,356 votes while Lexington Police Chief Martin Roby got 2,015 votes.
There were still paper ballots left to be counted.
Nail was appointed sheriff after the death of William Lee and was serving as chief deputy and arson investigator.
Roby was a previous investigator with the sheriff's department.
