Jackson firefighters battled a blaze Sunday that erupted at a home near downtown.
Shortly before four o'clock crews responded to the fire at 160 Minerva Street.
Heavy smoke and flames were reported when firefighters arrived on scene.
Jackson Fire Deputy Chief R. D. Simpson said crews did not have to rescue anyone from the home.
It is not clear if anyone was home when the fire started.
The cause is still under investigation.
