JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The old charm of Mississippi's first Wendy's Restaurant is just like new, only better, as the restaurant has re-opened and is now the newest location of the fast food chain in the state. The Wendy's is located on Northside Drive in Jackson. City leaders and Wendy's officials were on-hand to celebrate the event with a ribbon cutting Wednesday morning.

Carlisle Corporation founder Gene Carlisle and Mayor Harvey Johnson exchanged a handshake, cementing a $2.5 million investment in the Capital City.

Carlisle VP of Operations, Brian McDaniel shared with the group how excited they are about re-opening the location.

"We've been able to comeback to Northside Dr., and kind of re-energize the area and put a brand new store here," McDaniel explained.

Representatives from Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership also celebrated the opening and the positive impact the restaurant will have on the local economy.
