Mississippians are some of the most generous people in the United States when it comes to charitable giving, but Christmas warnings are being sent out to those who donate during holiday season.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann wants you to be sure your dollars are going for the charity you support and not into someone's pocket. The state website lists charities in Mississippi that accept donations.

Many of the charities registered in Mississippi did not make the grade. So before you donate, you might want to be smart by checking your charity with the Secretary of State's office.
