Man gets 33 years for killing woman after argument over drugs

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Brandon man was sentenced to 33 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of a woman earlier this year.

Willie James Washington Jr., was sentenced to 20 years for manslaughter, 10 years for auto theft and three years for arson in connection with the case.

Law enforcement officers found Teresa J. Beal Page's burned vehicle off Highway 80 in Pelahatchie in early April. Officials soon discovered Page had been reported missing days before, according to Madison and Rankin counties District Attorney Michael Guest.

Investigators learned that Page went to a party at Washington's trailer with a friend on March 30.

Page's body was found buried in a shallow grave about 40 yards behind the trailer.

Washington confessed to killing Page by hitting her in the head with a cinder block after a fight over drugs, according to Guest.

He also admitted to burying Page's body behind his residence and driving the victim's car to the location where it was found burned.
