JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson Mayor Harvey Johnson and the Convention and Visitors Bureau have announced the Jackson Rhythm and Blues Festival.

It will take place Sept. 20-21, 2013, at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum.

The headliner of the two day event will be five time Grammy winner Buddy Guy.

"We've never really had a major blues festival. And we have people come from all over the world come to Jackson to experience the blues because that's what we're known for. And to not have a blues festival, no more. Now, we've got a blues festival," said Marika Cackett with the Jackson Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Tickets are available now through Ticketmaster and the Mississippi Coliseum Box Office. Tickets for Friday are $25 and $35 for Saturday. Weekend passes are also available for $55.

A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Mississippi Blues Commission Blues Musicians Benevolent Fund.
