A local church is working to make sure that children whose parents are in jail aren't forgotten this Christmas.
New Horizon Church International is collecting gifts through the Angel Tree Project for children of incarcerated parents. They are gathering the daily necessities like toiletries.
The church, which sponsors 300 children each year, will distribute packages also containing clothing, books and a toy.
Church officials said they have been participating in the Angel Tree Project for 23 years.
"We actually make house visits for the Angel Tree kids that we serve and we get our Angel Tree list from Prison Fellowship, the national organization that was founded by Chuck Colson. We get our list from Washington D.C. every year," said Pauline Rogers with New Horizon Church International.
To register a child of incarcerated parents call New Horizon at 601-371-1427.
