Burglars steal Christmas presents from north Jackson family

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Another Jackson family has fallen victim to holiday thieves. Twenty-four-year-old Chrystal Slaughter says Christmas presents for her three children were stolen from her north Jackson home.

The family lives on Naples Road, which runs east off of north State Street, just north of Meadowbrook Road.

Slaughter says an eyewitness saw the young burglars pry open a window to gain entry to her home Sunday afternoon. They took all the presents under the Christmas tree and other presents for her children, who are 8, 6 and 1, that were in her bedroom.

They also got a brand new 55-inch Samsung Smart TV.

"They took all of his toys, all of his shoes. They took my TV, they took the diapers," Slaughter said.

She reported the burglary to Jackson police, but they have no suspects at this time.

"I feel like there is nothing that I can do about it," Slaughter said. "I work hard every day to provide for my children. I did all of my Christmas shopping only to come home yesterday, and everything was gone."

The eyewitness said the burglars were 15 or 16 years old and escaped in a silver Honda or Hyundai.
