JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Greg Flynn with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency did not have an exact number but said most of the state's 82 counties have been affected and the number was growing Wednesday afternoon.

Flynn said Mississippi's homeland security department and the FBI are investigating.

Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones confirmed the courthouse in Hazlehurst received a bomb threat. A building was evacuated and searched, but no bomb was found. Jones said he has a possible lead on who called in the bomb threat.

WLBT's David Kenney confirmed there was a bomb threat at the Hinds County courthouse as well.

Other media outlets have reported a number of courthouses across the state have also received threats. Those courthouses include Perry, Jasper, Covington, Jefferson Davis, Forrest, Jones, George, Jackson, Harrison, Hancock, Franklin, Wilkinson, Clairborne, Jefferson, Desoto and Choctaw counties.

On Nov. 27, the Hinds County chancery Court building in Jackson and 30 courthouses across Tennessee were evacuated after receiving bomb threats.
