Needy drivers receive a new ride from dealership

FLOWOOD, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Seven needy drivers have a vehicle to call their own thanks to a Jackson area car dealership.

Wilson Auto Group teamed up with four charities to select needy drivers for its "Help on Wheels" program.

Mission First, Mission Mississippi, Neighborhood Christian Services, and the Boys and Girls Club each select two needy drivers. The recipients had to have a job and no vehicle.

A ceremony was held Thursday evening just before the thankful owners drove off in their new, used cars.

"Sometimes we get caught up and we think everything is about us, and it's just a wonderful thing to be able to give and be able to give back to the community and give to someone that is deserving and hopefully make an impact in their life," said Wilson Auto Group President Doug Wilson.

"This is a blessing from God up above, and I just love him and thank him for it and the people that's working with the Wilson group to help me get the car," said recipient Danielle Barnes.

This is the fourth year Wilson Auto Group has teamed with the charities for "Help on Wheels."
