HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A man accused of sexually molesting children while working at a Clinton church will go on trial in Hinds County court next month.

Tuesday, a judge denied a motion to dismiss the charges against John Langworthy, a former Clinton teacher and minister of music.

Langworthy's attorney argued the statute of limitations had expired in the case.

Langworthy is charged with eight counts of gratification of lust involving five boys. He is accused of fondling boys between the ages of 8 and 12 in the 1980s.

All of the victims were from the Jackson and Clinton area and some are expected to testify during the trial.

Langworthy's trial date has been set for Jan. 28.
