JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

It is a senior center but the sweet music coming from Clinton Healthcare Tuesday morning, was from the voices of children.

Kids from Clinton Christian Academy visited Clinton Healthcare bearing gifts and holiday music. The 25 fourth and fifth graders distributed presents to about 115 of the nursing home residents and they said what they received in return was well worth the effort.

Michael Chambers, a fifth grader, said he was almost moved to tears because his grandmother used to live here.

Chambers said, "It's very important. I really love it. And I know it's important to them, too. And we gonna have to come more often so we can cheer them up."

Kennedi Cooper, a sixth grader, said, "They are happy and they sang along with us and just seeing them happy. It made me happy."

The event is a community service project by Home Instead Senior Care called Be A Santa To A Senior, designed to brighten the lives of needy seniors by giving them, not only gifts, but companionship during the holiday season.
