JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police have released the identity of a man killed in a crash in south Jackson neighborhood Thursday.

Police say 22-year-old Marquese Adams was killed in the wreck on Belvedere Drive near Monterey Street, but they haven't confirmed what caused the wreck.

Witnesses say Adams lost control, went airborne and hit two trees before landing in a crumpled heap in front of a home. They say Adams was unconscious in the driver's seat and would not respond to them.

Nathaniel Garner who saw the accident says, "He was coming down the street, hitting about 80 miles-per-hour, he tried to get in the right lane, he slid out of control.  He was real close to hitting me, hit the mailbox hit the fence then he hit the tree.  When he hit the tree he flipped in the air."

Witnesses say the car was seen traveling north on Belvedere at a high rate of speed before the wreck.
