Elderly man dead after Saturday morning fire

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

An elderly man is dead after an early morning house fire Saturday morning. The Jackson Fire Department was called to 1244 Pittsburg Street to put the fire out around 2:00 A.M .

Patricia Stokes Jones and John Jenkins said they rented the house. Jones and Jenkins were able to escape through the front window, but their elderly friend who lived with them did not survive. Jones and Jenkins think a space heater may have caused the fire.

JFD officials say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
