Ukrainian orphans celebrate with host families

FLOWOOD, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Fourteen orphaned children from Ukraine continue to be showered with love and gifts.

Sunday afternoon at the Flowood RC Park 10 Rankin County families are hosting the children for three weeks, during the holiday season.

The kids, who learn about American culture, customs, and traditions, arrived Friday. Host families held a pizza party and let the kids race remote controlled cars.

"I don't know if they have experienced anything like this. We have a little bit of a learning curve here, a little bit of a language barrier. So, it's been quite funny and fun," said April Smith of Joyful Journey.

Joyful Journey International Hosting Program for Orphans is behind the children's visit.

Organizers hope the kids may be able to find an adoptive family while in the U.S.
