Christmas presents stolen from Jackson family

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Latasha and Damian Nobel were shocked to find the front window of their Weston Street house broken when they returned home from church Sunday.

When they walked inside, one of the couple's worst fears became a reality.

Drawers were on the floor and they knew they had been burglarized.

"I think they went through every room in the house just taking clothes, because clothes were in the hallway;from the hallway to living room," explained Latasha Nobel.

The thieves kicked in their bedroom door, which has a deadbolt, knocking it off the frame. When the Nobel's walked to their closet, they found almost all of their Christmas presents gone.

"The only thing they left was a basketball goal. I guess they cause they couldn't carry it," said Latasha.

The west Jackson couple says one of the hardest parts about the break-in was explaining to their kids why Christmas would be different this year.

"I sat them down and I told them that we gone have to celebrate Christmas another day and youngest boy is 10, and he said, "well, momma what day are we gone celebrate it on?" And I don't think no child should have to go through nothing like that," recalled Latasha.

Nobel says a police report has been filed but no arrest has been made.

If you would like to help the Nobel family contact Crestwood New Life Church at 1611 Bailey Avenue in Jackson (601-353-7683), ask for Pastor Rayford.
