Woman Invites Pearl Family for Christmas Eve Dinner

Posted: Updated:
CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

It's a story we first told you about last month. A Pearl family saved for years to buy a new mobile home, only to be told they couldn't put it on their property.

They're told it's a zoning issue. And that they have to be out of the home by January first. One viewer wanted to help make their Christmas a little merrier.

This is the first time Andi Thornhill has met the Wilson family. But they've been on her mind for the past month now.

"I saw the story about this family and went days and I couldn't get it off my mind. I thought about this family, they stayed in my heart and I knew there wasn't much I could do," said Andi Thornhill.

But she invited them to come over for Christmas Eve dinner. The Wilson's were welcomed into the warm home with a big spread of food. Still, the kindness of strangers since we first told their story continues to overwhelm them.

"It's unbelievable. Cause no one's ever done this for us no one never. And for her to just don't even know us just invite us into her home. It's a blessing," explained Calvin Wilson.

It's not a visit from Santa but this one is even more meaningful to the family and to Thornhill. But carried just as much anticipation.

"We have been excited all day looking at the time. Oh, it's almost time. Just because we felt like for Christmas somebody actually wanted us to be a part of something," said Leginia Wilson.

Four other generous strangers chipped in to add to the Wilson's Christmas with gift cards and money. But with each hug and thank you it was clear that this visit had completed Christmas for both families.

"House full of laughter. We have giggled. I have held that baby. We have had a wonderful time. I'm happy. This is all I could do but I'm happy," said Thornhill.

The Wilson's still don't know what they'll do after January first but they're trying to keep hope alive.

"When we wake up Christmas morning we're still gonna be in that spot but it's gonna be a lot of love there. So, it's going to be OK," explained Calvin Wilson.

And for the night their troubles were out of sight, at least for a little while.
