Get ready for a wet Friday. Rain showers and a few thunderstorms are likely today as a low pressure system moves through. While there are no expectations for severe weather, there could be a few strong storms, especially over south Mississippi.
The stronger storms will move along and south of HWY 84 in the areas of Natchez, Bude, Brookhaven, Monticello, Prentiss, Laurel. Storms there could contain gusty winds. Rain totals should generally be between 0.5" and 0.75" with isolated spots closer to 1 inch.
Download the First Alert Weather App before you head out today so you can track the showers. Highs for Friday will be in the mid to upper 50s.
This system will quickly vacate the area by Saturday morning. Although we may have some clouds to deal with early on, most of Saturday should be sunny and cold. Winds will be out of the northwest 10-15 mph and highs will be in the mid 40s. That means wind chill factors may stay in the 30s Saturday.
A cold, active pattern is shaping up, so much of next week looks very chilly. Our next chance for rain will arrive around New Year's Eve.
