A north Jackson fire in a populated apartment complex destroyed numerous units Monday morning. Residents of Highland Park Apartments say several families are without a home after the early morning blaze.
Jackson Fire officials responded to the 152 unit complex off on 492 East Beasley Road in Jackson around 2 a.m. Monday morning in building 17. Residents of the apartment complex say eight apartments were destroyed in the fire, leaving eight families without a home.
Deputy Chief Simpson with the Jackson Fire Department confirms eight units have suffered either fire or water damage, but a cause for the flames has not yet been determined.
One resident says all eight units appear to be a complete loss.
Simpson adds fire investigators are on the scene, but they do not have an estimated time on when a cause may be determined. No injuries have been reported.
