More rape charges for Tuskegee officer

Posted: Updated:
TUSKEGEE, AL (WSFA) -

A second underage victim has come out since 38-year-old Levy Kelly's arrest back in December.

Those new charges are as follows: first degree rape, second degree sexual abuse and two counts of enticing a child to enter a vehicle or dwelling for immoral purposes.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation arrested him on Thursday, January 3rd on those new charges.

So that brings his total up to two victims and the following charges:

-4 counts of rape

-5 counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes

-sexual abuse.

Some residents say there shocked and disappointed because there are good cops in Tuskegee and this one bad apple is messing it up for not only the department, but the community.

"It's terrible. It's just terrible. He supposed to be protecting the children, not raping them. That's what I look for if I call the police or the sheriff, to protect me," Tuskegee resident Bertha Moore said.

"If he's found to be guilty of such crime, I'm hoping that he be dealt with accordingly and severely. We don't need those type of people in our community whether or not they are police officers or any other profession, we just don't need that," Joey Washington said.

Washington says he feels the police chief needs to do a more thorough investigation into the backgrounds of officers before hiring them.

As far as we know, Kelly remains in the Macon County Jail.

The ABI is asking that anyone with information concerning this investigation to please call 334-242-1142.
