Three people are confirmed dead in an Oktibbeha County house fire. The bodies were found this morning as fire officials continued digging through the rubble.
The fire occurred around noon Wednesday and was already engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Fire officials worked until 1AM looking for bodies, and resumed their search this morning.
The old one-and-a-half story wood home stood at the corner of Bardwell and Blackjack Roads, and one official said it looked like every fire investigator in the state was on the scene.
Oktibbeha County Fire Marshall A. K. Rosenhan is not releasing the names but confirmed the missing included a 92-year-old woman, a middle-aged 40-something female said to be a caregiver, and a young male college student in his 20s.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
