Prentiss police respond to fireworks, not school shooting

Posted: Updated:

Police officers have responded to Prentiss High School Thursday morning after someone released fire works on the school's campus, causing many to believe there had been a school shooting.

Dispatchers with the Prentiss Police Department confirm that officers responded to the school, but there has been no shooting, nor is it believed that there is a gun on campus. The dispatchers say fireworks were released by someone on the school's campus and officers were called after loud booms were heard.

The school is not on lockdown, nor do police believe students or faculty are in danger. It is not clear at this time if anyone has been taken into custody.
