HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Hinds County Sheriff has announced a major drug bust. Deputies seized more than 7-thousand-dollars, two vehicles and 3 weapons Thursday night.

Twenty-six year old Lathario Barnes of Jackson and twenty-seven year old Jenario Bunton of Clinton have been charged with felony possession of a firearm and felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

"I'm extremely proud of the work that our deputies did last night and the work they do every day," said Hinds County Sheriff Tyrone Lewis.

The drug bust is also gathering support on Facebook from community members who back the sheriff's office's war on drugs.

According to the Hinds County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, deputies discovered what appears to be a large amount of marijuana during a traffic stop Thursday night. A photo capturing the image was posted to the official Facebook page just after 9 p.m. with the caption:

"Check out what our hard working patrol deputies found in this vehicle inside a red bag tonight!!! - Stay tuned we'll post more photos with extra detail and another vehicle with items found."

Hinds County residents were quick to post their comments of support for the deputies and their efforts to take crime off of neighborhood streets.

"Ever since Sheriff Tyrone Lewis and Chief Chris Picou took over the county, it has made a big difference in law enforcement, and let's not forget the rest of the officers. Thanks Hinds County Sheriff's Office for your hard work," comments Axel Bickel.

Supporter Becky Mizzes agrees, writing, "You guys are running off the map in cleaning up [Mississippi]. Awesome job once again."

"Sheriff Tyrone Lewis and his committed command staff and very hard working determined deputies focus each and everyday on ways to make Hinds County a safe place to live. We will not rest until the criminal element is put to rest. We'll have more details on this bust [Friday].

Stay tuned and thank you for your continued support," writes Cain.
