Claiborne Co. bicyclist fatally hit by car

CLAIBORNE COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A bicyclist has died after being struck by a car in Claiborne County Friday morning.

According to Corporal Odis Easterling with MHP, a bicyclist was traveling on Highway 18, east of Port Gibson Friday morning shortly before 3 a.m., when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Clyde Johnson of Port Gibson.

Cpl. Easterling confirms Delecta Collins, 53, of Port Gibson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson was arrested and charged with not having a driver's license and felony possession of illegal drugs.

Easterling said the investigation is ongoing.
