JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Around 11 p.m. Saturday night Jackson Police were called to a disturbance at The Galleria, located at 2460 Terry Road.
"When officers arrived and observed the scene they were told several fights had broken out. At that point they called for back up for crowd control," JPD Officer Colendula Green said.
Shortly afterwards a black male began firing (a weapon) and shot at an officer. The unidentified officer fired back and struck the suspect.
According to Officer Green, the unidentified officer was not injured.
The suspect, who's name is not being released at this time, was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
The shooting is under investigation.
