TERRY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

After a line of storms moved through the area Sunday crews worked a house fire in Terry.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 2,000 block of Rosemary Road sometime around 4:30 p.m.

A neighbor called 911 and reported the blaze.

Terry, Byram and Crossroads Volunteer Fire Departments battled the flames that destroyed the wood framed structure.

Friends of the unidentified woman who lived at the home were grateful to learn that she was safe.

"I am tickled to death that lady ain't in that house. I mean the house doesn't mean nothing. The house doesn't mean nothing as long as that lady ain't in it," said Malcolm Martin, who was deer hunting nearby, saw the fire and stopped to check on his friend.

"We received a call for a fully involved house fire. We showed up. The house was occupied but three weeks ago we were advised by the neighbors that the lady had moved out, and so now I don't know where she is, but the house is empty," said Asst. Chief Jason Whittington with the Terry Volunteer Fire Department.

The fire is believed to have started on the right end of the house.

The cause is under investigation.
