Flash flooding affects metro neighborhoods

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Jackson area has seen three inches of rain in the past three days, and 1.5 inches in just the last 24 hours (Monday and Tuesday).

That rain can't wash off into the gutters quickly enough, and it's pooling up in streets, driveways and yards.

Our news crews found Madison County road workers setting out cones to block off parts of Smith Carr Road late Tuesday morning. Motorists are generally advised not to drive through an area if you can't see the street.

Chester Hart lives nearby, and travels Smith Carr Road every day.

"Real bad. Get up here, down yonder, every which way. #2 Can't go out that way, go back out that way, still plenty of water out toward Old Canton Road, you know," he told us.

John F. Kennedy Drive, in Presidential Hills in Northwest Jackson, is one of the streets flooded.

If you see flooding, take a picture and send it in!
