Tracking device leads police to 2 stolen vehicles

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A vehicle's tracking device helped Jackson police recover two stolen vehicles Tuesday afternoon.

According to police a gray Honda Civic was tracked to a duplex at 477 Eminence Row. The female owner of the vehicle activated her OnStar tracking device shortly after she was forced at gunpoint to give up her keys Tuesday. Police quickly found the stolen vehicle with its headlights still on.

Police ran a license plate check on an SUV parked next to the stolen Honda and quickly discovered it had also been reported stolen. The female owner of that green Chevrolet Trailblazer was carjacked in December.

Both of the vehicles were towed to the police impound lot. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

Police also say a 16-year-old was arrested and charged in connection with a separate armed carjacking Monday.
