JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson Police Department vice and narcotics officers arrested five people at a west Jackson house Thursday afternoon.

Police say they responded to 643 Hughes St., after complaints from neighbors of drug activity in the area. 6 men  and two women were taken from the residence in handcuffs.

Officers seized crack cocaine and a small amount of powdered cocaine, and say the charges against the suspects will be enhanced because the residence is within 1,500 feet of Poindexter Elementary School.

A child was also removed from the home.  Several vehicles were also towed from the scene.
