MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Right now, Memphis police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting. Just before 10 p.m. Thursday, police were called to Windsor Place Apartments on a loud music call.

When they arrived on scene, they encountered a male sitting in a vehicle.

According to police, the man pointed a gun at the officers. Officers then returned fire - killing the man.

However, the preliminary investigation reveals the suspect did not fire his weapon. But that is under investigation as well.

Detectives will also look into whether any drugs or alcohol were involved.

We could hear from Dir. Toney Armstrong on this Friday. Especially since this is the second deadly officer-involved shooting within the past week.

In the other shooting death, officers were trying to serve an animal cruelty warrant at a Cordova home when they say a 60-year-old man pointed a gun at police. An officer opened fire, killing the suspected animal hoarder. That officer is on paid leave, which is protocol.

We are expecting the same thing to happen to the officers involved in Thursday night's shooting. We will update this article when new information comes in. Be sure to check back with wmctv.com throughout the day.
