Fatal accident on Highway 135 near Kilgore; victim's identity released

KILGORE, TX (KLTV) -

Emergency crews responded to the scene of a fatal accident on Highway 135 north of Goforth Road near Kilgore involving a pick-up truck and an 18-wheeler. 

When Kilgore Police arrived on the scene, they found a pick-up truck had crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer. Initial investigation revealed the tractor-trailer was heading north on Highway 135 and turning into a business parking lot when the pick-up, also traveling northbound, crashed into the back.

The driver of the pick-up, identified as Ruben Rios, 20, of Kilgore, was found dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is undetermined and still under investigation by the Kilgore Police Department with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
