Medgar Evers' daughter discusses his life and legacy

Monday the nation will pause to remember the life and legacy of civil rights pioneer, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The same day as the presidential inauguration.

Medgar Evers' widow will be the first laywoman to deliver an invocation at the event in Washington. Friday her daughter Reena Evers-Everette gave the keynote address celebrating the life of her father and Martin Luther King, Jr. at Jackson State University.

She was 8-years-old and a witness to her father's assassination when he was gunned down at their Jackson home. The Jackson resident also talked about how proud she is of her mother. Myrlie Evers-Williams will deliver an invocation at President Obama's 2nd inauguration. "We are so honored as a family to have been invited to participate in the inauguration of our wonderful world leader, President Obama."

Evers-Everette said the event is an emotional one since it occurs on the 50th anniversary of her father's assassination.
